Natural gas is considered one of the most important sources of energy on earth, constituting 42% of the total amount of energy used worldwide, a demand which has increased from 19% in 1980. At the same time, the dependency on oil for generating global power has decreased from 46% in 1980 to 37% in 2006. Thus, the global demand for natural gas has doubled in the period from 1980 to 2005. Furthermore, natural gas is considered one of the essential pillars of modern industries, whether petrochemical industries or otherwise. Taking into account the importance of this strategic substance, nations all over the world are continuously prospecting for natural gas in order to increase their reserves.
The Arab Gas Pipeline Project is an ongoing Arab dream which is being achieved with Arab determination and persistence. Asian and European countries followed in the footsteps of this dream, thus transcending geographical and political barriers and achieving economic integration. The Arab Gas Pipeline contributes to the development of the countries benefiting from the pipeline.
There is no doubt that extending the Arab Gas Pipeline from Egypt to Arab countries has great benefits, foremost among which is to support collaboration among Arab nations in the fields of energy, industry, and politics.
Arab Gas Pipeline Project has achieved its Strategic Objective in Establishment an Effective Competitive Integrated Arab Gas Market with the transfer of knowledge and expertise to the beneficiary countries; it is noteworthy that the Arab Gas Pipeline Project has witnessed a number of measures, which have substantially supported the company’s activities, both inside and outside of the Jordanian market
Last but not least, I would like to thank the Board of Directors and all the Jordanian and Egyptian workers who have not spared any effort to achieve the Company’s objectives and its future vision in becoming one of the largest companies specialized in natural gas transfer and distribution on the Arab and Global levels.
